Context:
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has launched the Vishvasya Blockchain Technology Stack which provides Blockchain-as-a-Service with a geographically distributed infrastructure, aimed at supporting various permissioned blockchain-based applications.

In addition, the Secretary of MeitY unveiled the NBFLite, a lightweight blockchain platform, Praamaanik, an innovative blockchain-based solution for verifying mobile app origins, and the National Blockchain Portal.
National Blockchain Framework to Strengthen Digital Trust and Service Delivery
- The MeitY launched the National Blockchain Framework (NBF) to promote research and application development, enabling transparent, secure, and trusted digital service delivery for citizens.
- The NBF technology stack is designed with a distributed infrastructure, core framework functionality, smart contracts, an API gateway, and focuses on security, privacy, and interoperability.
- It offers Blockchain as a Service (BaaS) and currently supports two permissioned blockchain platforms, with the flexibility for future expansion.
- The technology stack is hosted on geographically distributed infrastructure at NIC data centres in Bhubaneswar, Pune, and Hyderabad.
Blockchain Sandbox for Startups and Academia
- NBFLite, a blockchain sandbox platform, has been specifically developed for startups and academia to facilitate rapid application prototyping, research, and capacity building.
- This platform was created through a collaborative effort involving C-DAC, NIC, IDRBT Hyderabad, IIT Hyderabad, IIIT Hyderabad, and SETS Chennai, with support from MeitY.
