Long Range Glide Bomb ‘GAURAV’
Context:
DRDO successfully conducted the first flight test of the Long Range Glide Bomb ‘GAURAV’ from a Su-30 MK-I aircraft off the coast of Odisha.
About GAURAV:
GAURAV Overview:
- GAURAV is a 1,000 kg class air-launched glide bomb.
- Capable of hitting targets at long distances.
- Utilises a hybrid navigation system combining INS and GPS data for high accuracy.
- Designed and developed indigenously by Research Centre Imarat (RCI), Hyderabad.
Flight Test:
- The maiden flight test was conducted from a Su-30 MK-I aircraft off the Odisha coast.
- The glide bomb successfully hit the target with pinpoint accuracy.
- Telemetry and Electro-optical tracking systems from the Integrated Test Range captured complete flight data.
- Development cum Production Partners, Adani Defence and Bharat Forge, also participated in the trial.
