Context:
National Hydroelectric Power Corporation Ltd (NHPC) and Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd (SECI) have been accorded with the prestigious status of ‘Navratna’ company by the Government of India.
About
- NHPC Ltd: Established in 1975 under the Companies Act, 1956, it is India’s largest hydropower development organisation, equipped to handle every aspect of hydro project development, from conceptualisation to commissioning. The company has also expanded into solar and wind energy sectors.
- SECI Ltd: Established in 2011 under the Companies Act, 1956, it is the leading Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) focused on the development and expansion of renewable energy capacity in India. In line with national and international commitments, SECI has been designated as one of India’s Renewable Energy Implementing Agencies (REIAs), actively working toward these goals and promoting sustainable development.
