Researchers from Yonsei University in South Korea have developed a groundbreaking new food product, a “non-vegetarian rice” that mimics the taste and nutritional profile of meat.

    • The resulting product contains 8% more protein and 7% more fat than regular rice, providing a significant nutritional boost.
    • It is packed with essential nutrients such as calcium, iron, and zinc.
  • Long Shelf Life : 
    • The rice boasts a shelf life of 11 days and can be stored at room temperature, making it highly practical for various situations.
  • Versatility and Convenience : 
    • Similar to Biryani preparation, this rice allows meat enthusiasts to enjoy its delicious taste effortlessly.
  • Economic and Environmental Benefits : 
    • Combating Malnutrition: Its nutrient-rich profile offers a viable solution to malnutrition, especially in critical situations such as war or emergencies.
    • Eco-Friendly Production: The production of this hybrid rice emits significantly less carbon dioxide compared to traditional meat production, with only 6.27 kg of CO2 released per 100 grams of protein, as opposed to 49.89 kg from beef.
    • Resource Efficiency: It requires fewer resources and water compared to conventional animal farming, positioning it as a more sustainable alternative.
