UNNATI Scheme 

Context:

The Northeastern Region Subsidy Scheme (NERS) section, in collaboration with DPIIT, DoNER, MSME, hosted a successful workshop on the Uttar Poorva Transformative Industrialisation Scheme (UNNATI) 2024 at Vanjiya Bhawan, New Delhi.

  • Each state presented the industrialisation incentives and opportunities available in their regions, showcasing the vast potential for growth across the Northeast.
  • Representatives from all eight Northeastern states participated actively.

 

 

About UNNATI,2024:

  • It is a central sector scheme under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade falls under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
  • Nodal Agency:The North-Eastern Development Financial Corporation Ltd. (NEDFi) will be the nodal agency for the disbursal of incentives under various components of the scheme.
  • Objective :UNNATI, 2024 is designed to strengthen the Industrial Ecosystem in the North East and attract New Investment. 

 

The Scheme is divided into two parts, i.e. Part A and Part B.

 

Part A incentivizes eligible new industrial units and those undergoing substantial expansion.

  • Part A will have three components 
  • Capital Investment Incentive (CII), 
  • Central Interest Subvention (CIS), 
  • Manufacturing & Services Linked Incentive (MSLI).

 

Part B is for developing an industrial ecosystem through activities.

 

Other Schemes to Promote Industrialisation in the NE Region:

  • North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS), launched in December 2017, is a 100% centrally funded program for 2022-2026. It aims to enhance infrastructure in the northeastern states, focusing on power, water supply, tourism, health, and education.
  • Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for North Eastern Region (PM-DevINE):It aims to fund infrastructure projects, support social development, and create livelihood opportunities specifically targeting youth and women in the region.
  • North East Road Sector Development Scheme (NERDS) under the North Eastern Council (NEC), aims to improve road infrastructure in the northeastern states.
  • The North East Venture Fund (NEVF), established by the Ministry of Development of the North-Eastern Region (DoNER) and NEDFi, supports startups and development projects in the northeastern states, with investments in health, technology, and tourism.
